Everything Will Be Alright, It Has Always Been

I spent the whole day yesterday carrying a heavy weight in my heart. Sorry, I couldn't be less dramatic. 😏 Anyway, that's not really the point of why I'm writing this. The physical and "intellectual" tiredness didn't help either. So why exactly am I writing this? It's not to vent but to tell a wonderful story.

One of the visible reasons I felt what I was feeling yesterday was concern. Everything else revolved around that. It was so tempting to just cancel everything, go home, and sleep. However, the grace of God prevailed. I was reading the second chapter of The Purpose-Driven Life and I was reminded of two things that was so appropriate for my situation:

  1. Each one of us was lovingly custom-made by God for a specific purpose. His sovereignty will allow that purpose to be fulfilled irregardless of how or other people respond.
  2. We may not always be in ideal situations but there are no accidents when God works.
  3. Our life is anchored to the grace of God.

This poem by Russel Kelfer is a wonderful reminder of God's grace and sovereignty in our lives.

You Are Who You Are (Russell Kelfer)

You are who you are for a reason.
You're part of an intricate plan.
You're a precious and perfect unique design,
Called God's special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb,
You're just what he wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones he chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God's plan in mind,
And they bear the Master's seal.

No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart.
So that into his likeness you'd grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You've been formed by the Master's rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God!

It's amazing how God comforts us in the best way possible. Life may not be easy but as what the song Here In My Life reminds us, we don't need to worry about a thing. I really like this song and listening to it and singing it last night brought so much comfort (and memories from my college days).

You are my freedom
Jesus you're the reason
I'm kneeling again at Your throne
Where would I be without You
Here in my life, here in my life?

I'm worried about three things right now but I believe that what God has been teaching me yesterday is enough to address that worry.
